@Julie Menghini, do you not have to let the dough rise before baking? I have seen other nut roll recipes that call for the dough to sit and rise.

I can’t thank you and your family enough for sharing this recipe. I’ve been using this specific one for at least 5+ and it never disappoints!! My best friends MIL has a recipe that she never shares, I can’t get her to break!! This is as close to hers as I’ll ever get! These go so quickly in my home. I’m making it right now and I’ll have at least 10 people lining up! Thank you again!!

In reply to Barbara Hinson. Thank you, Barbara! I was introduced to them by my mother-in-law who is now 95 and she got it from her mother-in-law who came to this country from Italy. Sadly I never met her because I would have loved a little more history on this recipe.

This cookie recipe has been passed down for generations in our family as well. I have no idea the culture/nationality they came from either. Your mil’s is slightly different, but basically the same. I’m amazed! Until moving to Eurasia, I had never met anyone who knew what these were (although they seemed to think they tasted great and waited for them to show up on cookie plates every year!) The country where we now live in Europe, this cookie looks a little different to them, but they are more familiar with it and it’s variations.
