Make the morning special with this delicious homemade fried donut recipe for glazed Blueberry Donuts. It's easy to make these delicious, Old-Fashioned blueberry donuts as a treat for your family.
Using a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk together.
Pour the melted butter into the flour mixture and stir until small crumbs form.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Gently fold the blueberries into the dough. The dough should be soft but not overly sticky.
Place the dough on a surface covered with flour. Sprinkle the top of the dough with flour, and using a rolling pin, roll the dough out to a 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut out the donuts and place the donuts and donut holes on a greased tray. Reroll the dough until all of the donuts have been cut. Save scraps in 1-inch thickness to test the oil.
Cover the bottom of a dutch oven with 2-inches of cooking oil. The oil should be heated to 350°F. Test it with an instant-read thermometer. If the oil is at the right temperature, the dough should sink and then float within 10 seconds.
Fry 2 to 3 donuts at a time for approximately 3 minutes. Turn halfway through cooking and remove once lightly brown. Cool them on a wire rack placed over a baking sheet.
Glaze
In a small bowl combine the glaze ingredients. Stir together until completely mixed. If the consistency is too thick add a small amount of milk. If it's too thin add a small amount of powdered sugar.
Dip the donuts into the glaze or spoon the glaze over the donuts.
